Of the three genres that make up trad Goth - Goth, darkwave and death rock - darkwave seems to get the least people singing its praise. Which is a shame, because it seems to have outlived Goth in terms of popularity and was always more visible than death rock.

Lets do reccomendation lists:

Cruxshadows
Diary of Dreams
Wolfsheim
Mortiis Era II
Schartz Stein
Killing Miranda
Clan of Xymox
Blutengel
Ego Likeness

Your turn!

Killing Miranda are not darkwave - they were a goth metal crossover - just ask Ricky!

Lol, I concede, its too rocky.

I nearly put Zeromancer, but again, too metally.

London After Midnight are up for debate though - too rocky to be darkwave or are they darkwave?

L'ame Immortelle (http://www.myspace.com/lameimmortelleband) I just discovered today. Gefallen is bloody excellent. I also found out darkwave has a subgenre called ethereal wave, which includes bands like Black Tape For Blue Girl and Claire Voyant.

EDIT: How did I forget The Birthday Massacre?

Because a lot of their songs are cringeworthy and Emo-ish.

NOT 'Happy Birthday' though (take note Russ!). Nor their cover of 'Neverending Story'.

I'd actually call them a misplaced US 80's band. (They're Canadian, by the way)
