Really rate Steven Erikson and Scott R Bakker. They are the new Glen Cook IMHO.

Just been lent a few HP Lovecraft, not really my 1st choice, but I might get into them.

How is the Lovecraft treating you? I always meant to read him, but he's a bit of a maniac, not to mention a vile racist. That always put me off, but then such things shouldn't overshadow talent :/

I'm reading (and writing) lots of Alternate History at the moment. Philip K Dick, SM Stirling, Harry Turtledove... That sort of stuff.
